Join The Chicago Sumo Club and ONE Fitness Center in Elgin as we present The Yokozuna Cup on Saturday May 4, 2024.

Help us say farewell to ONE Fitness’s current location with an action packed night of sumo. The main attraction of the night will be an open weight sumo tournament to see who wins The Yokozuna Cup & a cash prize. There will be also be boxing matches showcasing local talented boxers.

Doors open at 6pm, and the matches start at 7pm. Tickets are $20 for attendees. Come out to celebrate ONE Fitness’s last days at Tyler Plaza! We expect that food will be available for purchase inside. We currently have a dozen sumotori from Chicago and other states signed up to compete!

Learn sumo from a real sumo wrestler - come to Yama’s sumo seminar & training session! Yama (山本山 龍太) is a former professional sumo wrestler who reached the top division in Japan, and was the largest Japanese sumo wrestling at 600 pounds.

Yama along with Chicago Sumo Club will go over the sumo basic movements and rules. Students will have the opportunity to do some matches as well.

No experience required! All genders and ages welcomed!
Mawashi belts will be provided. Attendees should wear athletic clothes, such as compression or no gi outfits. Each attendee should bring their own water and towel as well.
